NEW WEBSITE!

I finally have an official [dot] com! The new website is: www.stopbreathelisten.com

I wanted to say thank you to all the amazing musicians I’ve showcased and fans/followers of the site! It’s because of you “Stop Breathe Listen” is becoming the hub to find the best unsigned musicians on the entire internet!

Daniel Switch

Wishin’ I lived in a warmer climate right about now–I’m wearing sweatpants, knee socks, slippers, two long-sleeve shirts with a sweatshirt on top it all, and i’m still cold!! My house is like an icebox–I woke up thinking I fell asleep outside by accident?? Not OK haha! Honestly, God bless the homeless–don’t know how they do it.

Anywayssss, in other news, Minneapolis native Daniel Switch is today’s unsigned artist of the day. He’s such a great singer that he made me forget the fact that I can’t feel my feet haha.

Jayme Dee

Wow everyone needs to check out Jayme Dee–Unbelievable would be quite the understatement. She should be on the radio, RIGHT NOW! Seriously…she has the voice, the looks, she lives in LA…what more of a head start do you need haha. Anyway, please subscribe to her YouTube, follow her on Twitter, Like her Facebook Fan Page–you know the drill!

The two videos I chose to showcase are two covers, “Fix You” by Coldplay, and “Hot N’ Cold” by Katy Perry. I LOVE the way that Jayme makes the Katy Perry song her own–soooo sickk! Anyway, there are tons of adjectives I could use to describe the sheer talent of Jayme but I’ll spare you the reading–just watch the videos already!

…and while your doing that i’m gonna chow down on some Ellios Pizza!  Mom just bought some and I haven’t had Ellios since I was a little kid! There aren’t many perks about living with your rents post graduation (due to the awesome economy) but nights like this make it not-so-bad! haha..

Kevin Writer w/ Douglas James – Ne-Yo (Cover)

This track is straight dopium right here. Kevin Writer and Douglas James really went in on this one. Kevin Writer is a producer/singer/song writer and Def Jam recording artist. Currently, Writer is in a group called RydazNRtist where he has graced the stage with greats such as Trey Songz and Mario. The video I posted today is Writer and his boy Douglas James havin’ some fun. Great voices coupled with fresh guitar skills = ear vitamins. This video is an acoustic cover of Ne-Yo‘s “One in a Million”–side note, I LOVE NE-YO. Other side note, I thought the word “side not” was one word like “sidenote” but it’s not–nor is “Badass” It’s “Bad Ass”!! Spell check’s trippin, seriously who makes those into two separate words haha. Whatever, i’m done ranting, I have chores to do…thanks mom!

Skylar Dayne – Eminem/Rihanna (Cover)

Skylar Dayne is an incredible singer/songwriter who  has a very bright future ahead of her.  This video is a cover Dayne did of Rihanna’s “Only Girl in the World” mashed with Rihanna and Eminem‘s “Love the way you lie“. Dayne does a great job making these songs her own–putting her own unique twist to it. For instance, she sings it in another octave than the original song, but it sounds really good! I can’t wait for her to do some more videos–she only has 14 up at the moment.

I’m off, I’m gonna watch the “Always Sunny in Philadelphia” episode I missed last night–love that show sooo much.

Keep it classy music lovers,

Blues Traveler (Live)

I wanted to post a video that I took of Blues Traveler last night. I recorded some of my favorite songs that they do “Hook” and “Run Around“, along with a dirty harmonica solo that John Popper did–he’s unbelievable at the Harmonic!a Anyway, I thought you’d enjoy watching some great musicians do their thing. I shot these from my iPhone 4 so sorry if the screen is upside down on some of them haha.

Tsoul – Billionaire/Make a Movie (Cover)

What’s the good word music lovers?! Today’s a cold, rainy, a gray cast skied day here in Maine–yeah, not my favorite haha. When it’s a crappy day like this, it almost seems like people just wake up in a bad mood. Without sunshine poking through, it’s difficult to get that Vitamin D that makes your body feel good, but DON’T WORRY–I have a solution! :)

I’ve posted some of Tsoul’s stuff before, but I couldn’t help myself. My dude here has more soul than heaven–he just makes you wanna throw your hands up like your in church. So I dunno about you, but Tsoul’s my Vitamin D on days when the sun isn’t shinning through–take today for instance haha. His voice is just bursting with so much soul and emotion it gives me goosebumps! Tsoul’s is Accompanied in these songs with his main man Malon–dudes got some serious pipes too.

Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys this post and that it makes your day, JUST A LITTLE BIT better. Every little bit helps right :)

Btw, after the Blues Traveler show I was talking to the guys and they were nice enough to give me one of John’s legendary harmonica’s–not a big deal!

Sarah Jane Wilson

Today’s musical inspiration actually goes out to a very, very close friend of mine–Sarah Wilson! I met Sarah my Sophomore year in college at UVM–we both auditioned for the same acapella group. I remember wishing her luck before her audition and she did the same for me. Well the luck must have worked because we both made it! 84 people auditioned that night and only 5 made it in–intense feeling!

Sarah and I at an Acapella Retreat!

Outside of acapella, Sarah is a singer/songwriter/musician whose been inspirational making music for years. Sarah’s music reflects similarities toward pop music, yet embraces it with a sincere and heartfelt twist. All her songs are extremely catchy–with lyrics that are very easy to relate too like love, heartache and life.

Currently, her songs are streamed all over the world on KGRL and Jango internet radio stations, and most of her music is available on CDbaby.com and iTunes. Sarah’s first EP, “Sold Ground”, was sold on iTunes in 2008 and has just released her newest EP “Catch the Light”. Buy her album, tweet, Facebook, share–anything to support this great and talented unsigned artist. One you listen to her songs I’m sure you’ll want too–believe me!

—>You can find it HERE AT CDBABY.com!

I’ve uploaded a few of my favorite videos that Sarah has posted on YouTube over the last year or so–one of them was dedicated to me! We like to make videos of each other singing about how much we miss each other and then post it on each others Facebook walls haha–don’t judge.

This is my video response to sarah!

This is Sarah’s response back!

Eddie The Gun – Don’t Be Afraid

So I usually don’t post signed musicians on this site, however, this artist just can’t go unnoticed. Eddie the Gun is one of the most inspiring rising stars out on the circuit today. ETG’s new hit single “Don’t Be Afraid” When I heard this song all my mouth could utter was, “WOW!”

I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely going to be wearing out the repeat button with this one! Big props to multi-platinum selling producer Nicky Cook for producing such a great hit. The track was later brought into the masterful hands of Dj Craig Mitchell who runs Slanted Black Records and it was liftoff from there! Not to mention, Mitchell has arranged and engineered some of the dopest mixes of “Don’t Be Afraid”–the Bonjour Hi Remix being one of them.

I’ve known Craig Mitchell for awhile now, and one of the things I’ve learned about him is that his ear for music is otherworldly–this track is a great example. You can check out Eddie The Gun’s “Don’t Be Affraid” part one track listing HERE on iTunes

“Part 1 includes remixes from DJ QDO, Ellis Miah, Bonjour Hi!, Dante and Shlavens & D-Lav, delivering a wide range of dance floor magic from fidget to anthemic floorfillers, along with downtempo mixes that will have everyone looking for the ghost in the darkness.”

Stay tuned–this week (until Nov. 8th) i’m gonna have a giveaway of the radio edit of the Ellis Miah mix! All you need to do is share this post on Twitter or Facebook (via the share button below) then drop me a line @ Stopbreathelistenmusic@Gmail.com with your e-mail address!

–believe me, all the hype is for a reason! Share it, comment, facebook, tweet and all the above–this track needs to be heard by the masses!

No Doubt – Underneath It All (Cover)

This Friday I went out for my birthday dinner at Dungrass Country Club, here in Old Orchard Beach. The dinner was just eh but the music was AWESOME! Acoustic act Ashley Sterling and Gil Donatelli (Italian last name, my man!) were putting on an amazing performance. I couldn’t get enough of Sterling’s voice–powerful yet sincere and Donatelli’s crisp voice and smooth guitar playing.  I was very impressed, I knew right then and there that I needed them on my blog!

Small world too, I found out that Sterling’s brother attended UVM in 2004 and was in the all male acapella group, The UVM “Top Cats”–so cool! My acapella group from UVM the “Hit Paws” were real close with all the Top Cats.

Before I finished my meal I made sure to videotape one of their songs. There is a ton of noise in the background but if you listen close enough you can hear the phenomenal job they did. I really look forward to keeping in touch with these guys–us musicians gotta stick together!

Also, peep Donatelli’s official website here! He has quite the repertoire which includes being a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music–yah, that good!
